Modified Screw on Gas Cap with Gauge

Neither one of the old Massey’s had the original floating gas cap anymore. They basically come in two sizes….too long and
too short lol. I grabbed the 14 inch one for about 20 bucks Canadian. You can buy the proper ones for twice the price. I got the measurement inside of the tank and cut about 4 1/2 inches out of the length then played with the twist on the indicator. Quite happy with how it turned out and it wasn’t very hard to get the proper amount of twist.. The only crappy thing is where the threads stop it’s not quite lined up the dash but obviously still very easy to see from the seat.

Yes, exactly. After I disassembled it and shortened it, I basically grabbed it at each end with pliers and gave it an extra half a twist. The only tricky part is, it’s still assembled at the gauge end because it isn’t removable. Just a little bit of trial and error.
