Couple pics for "Gasser Jim" aka @Sawdust

I believe that was a real drag car.. 64 Comet ?
Yes I'm sure it was a pic from back in the day. I agree on the '64 Comet. Not sure but I think the graphics, say "Sachs and Sons". Looks like the engine is a Ford "Cammer". Back then folks would build a gasser out of anything they could find! A lot of gassers didn't have front straight axles. Just jacked up independent front suspensions!

Doesn't look like @Sawdust has been on yet.

Shirley Shahan who Eric pictured was a professional driver back in the day, Jim. Here is an interesting wiki about her.

I do dig the back up girls and the trophy and company rep girls, like Linda Vaughn. Do you follow the "Back Up Girls" page on FB? They work pretty darn hard and most do it for their husbands or boyfriend's team.

I'm pretty sure Shirley started out with her husband at the time, John Muldowney's Corvette too.

There are still a lot of women in NHRA getting it done!

In 1974 I lived with my Dad for awhile. He was hoping I would stay. That's another story. He lived in Lakeland, FL and they had a great racing complex at the time. 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile asphalt oval tracks and a 14 mile dragstrip.

I went to an IHRA show that was all women drivers. Here's a few pics from that event. Nope like a dummy I didn't get pics of the girls.

I do remember the blonde lady with the Road Agent funny car was the driver.
