I've always done my own brake jobs. My 2017 GMC Sierra needs work, and I thought I was getting too old to be rolling around on the ground, so I went to my auto dealer to see what they would charge me.
$1300 !!!
Well, I guess I will do it again. I checked with Rock Auto for a price on the parts. There are so many brands of rotor & pad kits; most of them I never heard of. Anyone have any suggestions?
 
An auto dealer is the last place to go to for repair work. They all double the price right out the gate. Check out your local repair shop and bet you will have a lot more resonable prices. Plus they will know which rotors and pads they have had the best luck with. JMO
 
I just did brakes on wife’s car..Raybestos rotors and pads as well as a Moog steering knuckle..all from Rockauto…
There is so much junk parts available..stick with brands you familiar with…
I just looked at choices for your truck on Rockauto…holy crap they got a huge selection, cuz its a truck.
Raising your vehicle on ramps or whatever lessons the agony. Knee pads or a moving blanket on the ground for comfort or a nap during the process..

I use Wagner, Raybestos, and Power Stop.

I used to only buy Moog suspension parts, I've had multiple parts fail like bushings within a couple years, they are making all their parts overseas like everyone else.

"SOME" not all. I have used Moog for years and in some things like control arm assemblies they have 2 lines. "RK" is the cheaper line, more likely to be cheap and not last.
I've only ever gotten Chinese Moog Parts twice. First was the inner tie rods in my last Dakota, and more recently the sway bar links for my neighbors ranger. Though the other parts I got for that job said USA on them they definitely had a different look to them than previous ones I've gotten from them. I like boxes with lots of dust on them.... Clue to getting the "good stuff".
For bushings I've taken a liking to urethane ones when available. I get either energy suspension or PST (performance suspension tech) brands.
