    At full throttle your stator should put out a minimum of 28VAC. If not it's likely a weak stator.

    I wonder if you can cut the dipstick tube and inch or so above the NPT threads, thread in the short piece, then join the two with hose and clamps? I know it's tight back there too.

    Doug, I took crawl the walls in quiet. I run a 50 year old Seats noise maker, plus a fan. These new fans don't make as much noise as I need, and to add they sure don't move much air like the OLD steel blades fans.

    On decks with rust I first remove the loose rust and scale with a needle/scaler, then treat with rust converter. Then I put at least 2 coats of "EZ Slide" which is a graphite coating that usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Grass can still stick, but not as fast, and is much easier to remove. I...

    All my Bush Hog's u-joints have the grease fittings on the caps. I really like them there as it makes it a ton easier to get at.

    Kawa carbs tend to surge more than other makes. I have hated it ever since EPA said no more jet adjustment screws. Usually all it takes to stop the surging is to ever so slightly use a torch cleaner to open the jet orifice just a tick.

    I've also never dealt with that type of "plastic retainer" u-joint. Seems like triple the work to replace! And you poked my memory... what happened to Gtractor? Hope he's still with us!

    And as Chris said, you don't want charge voltage above 14.5dcv, at least not more over for a very short time before dropping back down.

    The 36AV is fine and low rpm readings really don't matter, only minimum upper readings matter. Good deal!!
