If you can actually see both ends of filter paper is sealed, you are good. I've found that most that you can't see are sealed, are not sealed.

I use these a lot and are sealed on both ends. A LOT of the bulk filters are junk, but these are good. AloneGoer 12pcs 40 Micron 1/4" Inline Fuel Filter Compatible with Kawasaki FH430V FH451V FH500V 49019-0027 691035 493629 84001895 Dirt Street Motorcycle Motor Lawn Mower Tractor Amazon.com

If you bust that fuel filter open, I'll bet you'll find the end of paper opposite the end with metal cap that the paper isn't glued in at all and that dirt in fuel can slip right on through. I had several similar and I tossed them in the garbage where they belonged.

Putting meter set on AC to the 2 wires from stator (unplugged from regulator) at full rpm's it should have in the neighborhood of 28VAC. If it's at that or higher, the stator is fine.

    Spindle Brgs.

I'm betting the spacer between the bearings got worn a tad short when the first set of bearings wore out. That will put enough pre-load to drastically shorten bearing life. I often have to add very thin shim washers to the spacer to prevent pre-load.

Yeah, back in the "plowing every year" days, we would actually wear tires out, but when we went no-till it really saved a lot of tread life.

    Kawasaki carburetors

Kawasaki carbs are the worst in my opinion. The formed o-rings always shrink and as you've found, hardly any support for parts.

    Homemade with leftovers

Projects like this Rick makes me know one day I will stop doing so much repair work for others so I can do projects for myself, which I've not been able to do in years now. Much enjoy following your build!

    Recreational Gas

Around here 100% pure gas is anywhere between 50 & 75 cents per gallon more than ethanol blend 87, and the pure gas is also 87 octane.

"The Surplus Center" has carried the shafting on and off over the years. They also usually carry couplers.

    Great Idea For Plastic Welding

I bought a kit. Came with stainless window screen for reinforcement but this steel wool idea is great, especially if surface isn't flat!

    Just had to do it.

Once I had a steel high pressure hydraulic line with a pinhole from rust. Found I was out of brazing rod, so cleaned line spotless, then wrapped copper wire I stripped from electric wire about 3/16" thick over hole and a little beyond each side. Then using flux I soldered it with acid core...

What did you do with your tractor today?

Used forks on my Kubota BX to move scrap metal to the scrap boneyard yesterday. People will drop off metal scrap here at my place now and then and put it next to my dumpster. Got kinda wooly with high grass and weeds, so had to clean things up.

Many riders have multiple holes for mounting different makes of engines, so hopefully this will be your case.
