This engine has been in my way for a long time. I think it has some internal damage as even with the plugs out it's pretty hard to pull the rope. There is a loud "snap" noise turning it over too.

I doubt anyone has one they need parts for but thought I would try. If there is anything that interests someone make an offer and I will pull the part or parts and send. Will be going to scrap next spring.

The "snap" noise might just be the magneto, Doug. Looks like a nice little engine, hopefully someone can get it back into running condition.

If pulling it over is normally that hard, I sure ain't man enough for it then!

Naa . think you're just losing your touch Doug.. ;)

Nothing sucked more than rope starting those old motors..
especially if they didn't start on the 1st 2nd pull..and remember you never had a good enough rope ? let alone one with a handle on it..

O have a couple of those old engines too. Luckily the THD that I shoehorned into a Bush Hog JBI has electric start. I haven't started it in at least 6 to 8 years so I need to fire it up soon. It was running perfect, but the extra long throttle cable frooze up and I parked it and never found the time to install a new cable.

I think we have one of those out in the lean-to and possibly another that might be stuck. Not sure if we need anything for them but I will try to look at it tomorrow to verify what we have.
Let me know, CJet. I contacted a guy that works for the antique tractor association that runs the Sturgis Threshing Bee to see if they would want it for some of the displays they have on the grounds.

Remove the spark plugs and see how it turns over, it could also be rust on the cylinder walls causing it to turn hard a few years ago I was looking for one like that but not anymore
I did that Gary. Couldn't feel and difference.

Thought about trying to set up a starter generator and a pulley on the engine but I'm sure one from a 8HP B/S or Kohler wouldn't be able to handle it anyway.

Yeah that's for sure, Bill. The rope with this engine don't have a handle. Wouldn't be hard to make one up but I don't have the desire to mess with it.
