This great little piece of history was listed locally by a John Deere collector who has Deere big and small everywhere.
He had had it for several years thinking that he was going to do something with it but never had.
It was listed cheap and I went and snagged it.
I mainly went and got it for its rear wheels and spacers.
It is a solid tractor and the engine is free. The tractor is normally right up my alley to save and I strongly considered it after I picked it up.
In the end I did as I originally intended.
I took the rear wheels, tires and ,spacers and replaced them with a single pair of turfs.
Then I traded it to a friend for Simplicity 725 stuff.
This tractor needs a lot of TLC and it would be too far down my list and I just don't have a good place to store out of the weather. It already has to much weather damage from the last several years sitting in the weather in a damp spot.

Like you say "interesting wheel spacers". Could create bent wheels if over tightened. If the tips of the bars are not tight against the flange it appears it could allow the outside wheel to shift no matter how tight the bolts. I would be interested to know how they work for you Don

Don they appear to have been on this tractor for decades and working as they should when I pulled them off.
As for over tightening.
Doing things correctly seems to be a lost art.
Everything has a proper torque value. Over or under doing any of those values can cause catastrophic failure.
