What's the best oil to run in winter for 10 hp Briggs and stratton upright

How cold does it get where you live?
When in doubt run the proper weight synthetic then you will be assured it will get proper lubrication when starting cold.

This is what this says that I have. It’s a cast iron engine, but I don’t know the year.

If I didn't know I would take a wilda** guess and run 10W-30.

Yep, thats what I run in all my engines. 10W-30. One manual I have, says, use 30 or 10W-30, if using 10W-30 check oil more often.

10-30 for the win but green one moved snow better really wet snow

1964 Simplicity Land Lord cast iron single cylinder B&S 9HP engine.
Run 10w in the winter below 30F, run 30W summer or above 30F.
Still runs great today engine has only had the points condenser and plug changed along with oil since new.

OH and it is NOT a Farm Tractor.
