Ya I know it isnt a GT but there isnt a lawn nower forum here. ;)

Some pics of the Deutz now that it is off the trailer... I havent seen this style of metal dump before, its missing the tailgate so I might not even use it, motor turns but I wont try to start it until I look a few things over, only piece I noticed missing is the screen over the hydro pump... which the PO may have removed since he told me the hydro pump is bad....

its rough but I think I have most anything I might need....

I do plan on getting in the shop soon.... I actually just hauled another one in a couple weeks ago but I think I'll switch it out for this latest one. Been trying to find pics of what the tailgate should look like on this last one but they seem pretty rare... I would not want to use the box myself but it would be a good option to have when it comes time to sell it. The more common box just has a sloped tail on it......

I blew off the cob webs and hosed it down today, pulled it into the shop and removed the rear deck and engine cover. Pulled out the plugs to check for spark and squirt some oil in the cyclinders before cranking it over for a bit, then put the plugs back in and squirted some fuel in the carb... and it runs.. Happy Happy :D

The Po had mentioned that there was a problem with the hydro... what he never mentioned was that it runs backwards... so when I pushed forward... it went backwards, and vice versa,Lol.... I looked but couldnt find any reversed linkages so the best I can figure is someone had the pump cases split in half and re-assembled them 180* out... which is easy enough to do... but it would also have been easy to fix. Lolol

Had the Deutz out for several test runs now without the deck... added some Seafoam to the fuel and it seems to run better every time I start it... and the replacement hydro pump I had on the shelf seems to be working fine... no big hills here but it climbs up the steep ditch onto the road in forward or reverse fine... two out of three deck spindles are froze up so that needs to be rebuilt next... think I'll fix a 42" so I can use that and a 48" for when I put it up for sale.... buyer can pick either or both;)

Same guy has an Allis Chalmers 917H with series II engine and tiller that I plan on going back for... wasnt room on the trailer last trip... I had a 917H before with tiller, mower and snowblower... that was a nice heavy tractor so Im looking forward to having another one and hopefully have it and the Deutz both for sale in the spring.

this is the 917H I had a few years back...

Still havent got much done to this rig but I did put the box back on it so I can use it for some yard cleanup... it seems to have gotten past the stumble it was having occasionally and the controls are working better after some wd40... no tailgate so I have to be careful on hills but its a pretty handy little truck just to run around the yard with.

I never realized it had rear steering, that’s got to be fun to drive. That rig would be handy for yard duties. Nice job getting it going Lance.

I have the Simplicity 7117H version repowered with a 20hp Kohler Command with a 48” deck and rear tiller. I did some routine maintenance on it over the winter. I found the two small pulleys that the lift cable rides on and the lift cable are all bad. I enjoy this tractor a lot, well made and strong running.

the rear steering is what makes them turn sharp almost like a ZT BUT its also the reason I dont like having the larger metal boxes on the back cause its easy to ram it into things... with the small flat deck and wooden rails thats not much of a problem.

Did you transplant the 20hp into the 7117H? maybe it had a series I engine... I made sure to ask the guy if this one has I or II and he says its a II.

My friend the PO did the repower. It was probably the I series, those seem to be the ones that had oil problems. He did a nice job on the repower, runs smooth, starts quick.
