It's been a while I wanted to make something like this to be able to remove the weight of my counterweight from the hydraulic cylinder while I am clearing my driveway from snow. Since the cylinder started leaking a lot I had to force myself making this. The idea is quite simple, attach a chain to the bottom of the accessory, lift the accessory, attach the chain and remove the load from the cylinder.

It was a bit hard to make with basic tools as bending 1/4" thick by 1.5" wide flatbar can be a challenge but I managed to do it with my 20T press, random stuff laying around and a bit of hammering. Both side are welded together to prevent the right one from moving further right and making the load leaning to one side.

Interesting. I had planned on just putting a shut of valve on one end of the cylinder to lock it up, but I guess if yours is leaking you would be no further ahead doing that.
