48” 3 Point Rear Bucket

So I built this 48” 3 point rear scoop. It’s just shy of 1/8” from the side of an old oil tank that I bent 90 degrees. The T frame and the top of the bucket is 2x3x3/16” tubing left from a trailer build. All scrap but I have to pick 4’ of 3” flat bar for a front wear edge & 3’ of 5/8” round stock for the trip handle, the one there is 1/2” on the upright because I only had a short piece left. Have to weld the top edge of the bucket ( ran out of wire lol), break down and paint. I was going to use a dump cylinder but real estate was tight & it’s just for mulch clay hauling wood maybe. It was a cheap project otherwise would have just waited til I do the loader. Close to 3 1/2 cubic feet. Gonna weigh it tomorrow just to see but it lifted 400lbs in it tonight, more than I’ll probably put in it.

Ya. Nice set up. I don’t have those kinds skills. Hehe. Metal like that out of my scrap pile is not easily gotten. I’d make it out of 1/2” plywood. And use angle iron to reinforce it. And some flat 1/4” or what ever for the cutting bar at front of bucket. But, I don’t have a 3 point on any of my garden tractors , but my Ferguson tractor does. If I was building one for it , I’d find an old oil barrel and cut in half.

My son made a sandblasting cabinet out of a oil barrel.

I did one similar Noel expect I cut the top half off and put plexiglass on top

I like it! My challenge is getting the sheet metal for the bucket itself.
Made my extra wide front bucket for my Sears 18/6 from an old hot water tank. Here is the original bucket setting in the new one
today 013.jpg
Wanted the extra width so when moving snow it cut a track wide enough for the duel wheels to follow.
I had flat plate for the endstoday 014.jpg
But I had to go to town for the AR plate for the cutting edge for the front and sides. Just welded that on as I am pretty sure I will never wear it out. Total cost about 30 $.

I have been thinking for years about making a rollover scraper rear bucket. May be your post will give me some inspiration to move on that if I don't get distracted again.

That's cool! I need flat plate to do what I have in mind.

On my part time job, I deliver to electricians. I saw one had a bunch of 36x42" metal that they used to cover big electrical panels. He let me have a few. I built my bucket from them.

Love to find some of those!

So I weighed the bucket and subframe and it came in at 135 pounds exactly I guess I built that heavy enough lol, Painting it now

All painted up & nowhere to go lol.
