This poor tractor took some major cutting.
Someone decided since all they had was a small pan Kohler from a Cub to replace the big pan that went bad that they would cut the motor mount plate out,cut the rear front axle support out and cut the front axle rear support area away. Then they thought in its place they should weld a piece of flat metal from the underside of the frame to the back of the front axle....solid...with no way to pivot!
Then they started welding square tube stock to where the motor mount area used to be to to mount the small pan engine and finally decided it wasn't working and quit on it.

If it had been me I would have gotten a wide pan unless it wasn't flanged for the wide pan. I got a small panned engine out of a JD and got a pan so it will bolt into my 7012 Simplicity. Have to make a few other changes also.

A JD block will take a wide pan. The block is cast the same as a deep pan block. Deere uses the ears cast into the block that mounts the big to mount the engine in the tractor on the rubber insulator plate. You can pull it from the Deere and swap a wide pan right on. Cub blocks on the other hand are cast without the ears on the block that mounts the big pan so you can't put a big pan on a Cub block.
