Every year out here we never have a potato bug problem. We have a weed that comes up right next to the row of potatoes that looks a lot like a potato plant but isn’t. It’s covered with the bugs but none on the potatoes. I started pulling them up but thought maybe I should leave them since they are hosting the bugs. I did a Google search and from what I found it’s called a False Potato Beetle. It’s basically harmless unless you have egg plant which it desires.
