I'm looking at changing an ST/16 into an SS/16. I have had this tractor for some time and there is no way I'm going to find an original engine for it around here! I have an Onan B43 engine that could use a home, so why not! Looks like only a few sheet metal differences and the fuel tank is back by the seat. I'll study the parts lists some more. I do need to know the diameter of the tractor drive pulley! The nose is broken badly!

I have a late 70's SS16. It's technically a canadian 1979 model but maybe more similar to the 76-77? USA models? not sure. Anyway it does have the Onan in it and I can measure the pulley tomorrow if I think of it. Doyou just need an OD or?
Just the OD. I know the shaft size is 1-7/16". I don't have a deck for it, so just the drive pulley is needed! The drive belt is still on it.

You'll need to weld and angle on the front left side of the frame for the front corner engine mount.
The lower grill also had a 1 or 2" riser that lifted it and pushed it forward slightly.
Original drive belt for an Onan is 5/8X83 I believe.

I didn’t remember lol. I’ll tie a string on my finger next time I leave the house. Not home today.

Had a look when I got home before I forgot again. Hard to measure with it on the tractor but inside pulley looks to be around 4 1/4 - 4 3/8” OD

I may have a pulley from off an old BF Onan from an SS16. I'll try to remember to look tomorrow.

Hi the pulley's are the same on all the Tecs and Onan's have 1 1/8" ID the B&S have 1 " the hood need a 2" spacer to lengthen it a 1/2" spacer under the grill to raise it I removed the battery mount turned it 90 and moved it back as far as it can go. I put an opposed Briggs in mine the Briggs and Onan are real close to the same size

This Onan is a B43E, 1-7/16" output shaft! I thought all Onan's had that big shaft! I have a B48G that has the same as do the P-220's
