Sold my Sears yesterday. Wasn't planning on replacing it.
Went to a Church rummage sale this morning and walk right into another acquisition.
They had a John Deere 110. Hood and grill are intact with no cracks or dents.
Has a nice running Kohler, mower deck, snow blade, wheel weights, and chains.
And a front mounted generator.
Don't know much about the generator , I may try to bench test it using a big drill to spin it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I did look back over my shoulder when I put it in the shop.
The green seemed to fit well with the red, orange, yellow, and brown.

When one doors closes another opens it seems...(at least in your case).

Actually this afternoon the guy who did my driveways came by looking for a tractor to use as a butt buggy for him and his wife.
I shot him a price on the 110 and he liked it but wants something smaller framed to fit in the back of a pickup. He kept looking back at it when leaving and said he may be back for it anyway. I am sending him to my brothers tomorrow to look at his J.D. 100.

Washed the John Deere today, but I'll have to remove the rims/tires to get them really clean. I'll hit them with degreaser and the power washer.
The front rims have an abundance of grease on them. At least they were not run dry! I may pressure wash them tomorrow.
Ran the tractor around the neighborhood this afternoon. That 10 horse Kohler runs real nice. I got the variator lever lubricated and the variator functions now. The original decal is still on the inside of the hood.
The wife says when I remove the seat to reposition it that she will try to refit the cover and trim. We may try gluing them onto the seat pan.

This was the tractor I used growing up. dad sold it 20+ years ago. I bought it back for 25 dollars. The guy he sold it to passed away and it sat outside for a long time. The people bought the house and wanted it out of the yard.

It wasn’t in this bad of shape when I was a kid. It actually looked really good. We painted it twice. Deck was in good condition but not perfect.

deck is gone now. It broke in half when I took it off. Whole tractor currently on totes waiting for me to get the energy to rebuild on it.

Took the wheels/tires off of the J.D. yesterday,
I scraped, scrubbed and pressured washed them several times till they finally came clean.
Today I sanded and painted them. I set up a workmate outside, grabbed a bar stool and took advantage of the good weather while I could. I got them sanded and taped off before lunch. Then ran the wife to town and got some rattle can Rustoleum J.D. yellow and some primer. After lunch Trail95 required some assistance in installing a windshield in his street rod.
After taking care of everyone else I drug out "my paint booth" which masquerades as an old swing set. Cut a piece of pipe to length and hung the wheels/tires on it and painted away. I will give them a few days to cure out and reinstall them. Hopefully tomorrow I can fix the seat.

I got started on the seat today. It is like brand new but the trim has come loose and allowed the vinyl to come loose also.
After sitting in the sun for a while we stretched one side back into place with some "miracle" glue and a bunch of clamps. We will let that set for 24 hours before continuing the process. I intend to glue the trim onto it also. This will take a few days to complete.

Some times you can pinch the edge trim together to make it hold better. If the seat has been exposed to water the grippers will rust and break and nothing much can save them at that point. Have not found a source for new edge trim either. Got to be made some place as every seat in the country has it.
