I have a 16 horse Briggs that is missing the carb and would love to get it going to use in a project. The numbers on the engine are-
326437 0174-07
Code 7603301
I understand that it takes the flowjet II carb but all I am seeing are the ones for 7,8,9 horse engines.
Without the number for the original carb, how do I know which one that I need?
I also see carbs that say medium and large. Haven't done much with Briggs so not sure how to get the correct one.
Thanks

Went out and pulled the head off the other day and the cylinder and valves are clean and what looks to be a new head gasket. No spark so I put a new magneto on and turning by hand it will give me a light shock. Have a carb on the way so I hope to see if it is going to run by this weekend. I also cleaned and gapped the points. Looking forward to hearing it run.

I ended out in a trade for an old engine stand i had 2 of .I got a 10 hp and a 16 hp old cast iron engines,Both run well,I am probably going to us the 16 in the MTD 990 I just picked up,But we will see,The 16hp briggs in the 990 has good compression and does run ok but not as good as my extra one.I know they are powerful work horses as my montgomery wards vari 16 had one,All the power in the world it seemed!
