Containment Kit

Husqvarna 48" mulch kit came with a containment plate service kit. What is it's purpose and is it necessary? Thanks!

keeps the clippings under the deck longer so they can be fully mulched(cut several times)..... up to you if you use it or not but if your going to use a mulching blade it does work better with the plate in place and it is better for the lawn over time.
