Coolant flush and clean

Anyone use a radiator detergent when doing a coolant flush? I want to replace the coolant in my newly acquired diesel tractor, the engine maintenance manual mentions cleaning the radiator w/ a detergent. I'm asking if anyone has done so, and has a recommendation for one type? Thank you.

I know some are left in and run for hours to a couple days. Others are kind of in and out. So many out there and wish I could help with the better ones but I honestly think use your better judgement. This could get to be like an oil debate as which is best..

50/50 mix of DISTILLED water and white vinegar. Run the engine from cold to warm, not hot. Just enough to have the thermostat open up for 2mins. About 185F to 195F, do not exceed 200F.

When engine cools, then follow thru with a 100% distilled water rinse, run for 1min and drain.

Refill with ONLY 50/50 pre-mix labeled as, For All Makes And Models. DO NOT ever use Long Life coolants in old machines. The Long Life coolants only have 1/3rd the corrosion protection vs. the old green stuff or For All Makes and Models. Prestone is one of the few brands who kept the full corrosion inhibitors in their coolants For All Makes and Models.

Doing this will prevent brown sludge coolant from developing.
