Due to .50" Rain yesterday was dump cart day but today we could load trucks in the field.

This is the bunker which is about 140' wide.  The farmer only feeds half of it at a time so the face is not to large. The guy up on last years silage is cleaning spoilage to get it ready to put new silage against it.

Nice Ducky.

Looks like work, but the scenery is great

Thanks Don.  That looks like a big operation!  How many dump carts can a semi hold?  Also if the farmer doesn't use all the silage how long can it last, you mentioned that someone was cleaning up the spoilage.  Is this all for the same farmers cow's?  See I'm quite ignorant when it comes to farm life.

A semi can hold two carts.

The chopper is 400 HP and can keep 2 trucks busy on up to 1 mile hauls.

The silage will last for several years as long as you keep air out of it.

Yes this is for the 1200 cow operation. He has a 90% reserve for a bad year.

The are a couple inches of spoilage under the cover.  the cover consist s of a layer of vapor barrier and a top layer of rougher plastic and tire side walls to hold it all down.
