Dug some blue and red potatoes

Dug these for wifes family reunion this weekend, reds, blues and white for their supper. Blues hard to dig, big root system on them. Any way, good lookin potatoes. I have not tried the blues yet, will chew on some soon.

How long have you been growing Spuds?

A few years ago a solid red, similar to the solid blues came out. Did you ever try them? We found them to be a very "wet" spud, and slow maturing. I thought of them when you mentioned that your blues are hard to dig. The reds had a normal top growth, but the potatoes themselves were on a long root system and would be as far as two feet away from the plant, and deeper than usual. Only grew them one year.

These red ones I have are white inside. Never heard of solid reds. the blues I have are solid blue all the way through. I found the superiors weird to dig. Potatoes are deep and runners one foot long, seems the more ya dig more potatoes come up in places you would not think any are there, but dug out easy. Cobblers are easy to dig, all potatoes together and at the top just below plant.

I do not believe I have ever seen a blue potato! I could probably freak the kids out with those.

Looks good Noel! I'm hungry for spuds again. A month or two ago my wife fried a bunch of sliced potatoes and I told her she used rotton potatoes, some are black! That's when I got educated about blue potatoes. She used white and blue for the meal. New one on me! It was darn good eating.
