Engineers... Geesh. Ammirite?

So, on the sickle mower I bought last month, the belt tightener has to be loosened to put it on or off the machine.
Here is a pic of. What it looked like. It's a B to adjust, about a 1/8 turn at a time.

So, I made a.first attempt at engineering it like it should be.
IMG_20190511_204815556.jpgthe allignment isn't quite right, will make another one or straighten the OEM cockeyed weld on the adjuster bracket. Either way, it's in use.

Yeah, my measurements were all from halfway, but the camber is off on the one piece and it needs to be straighter to do it my way. I'll make another with a little wiggle room in it.

Here's another engineering marvel.
If you have the tortion spring set right, and the lift links set right, the damn latch will catch on the lawyer designed safety shield. IMG_20190512_153217247.jpg
It bent the latch once and I thought it was my fault. The second time, it didn't bend but I figured it out.
Damn shield is to big
Now, you can get off, release the shield, lift the mower, get back on, repeat.... OR

Now, it misses.IMG_20190512_153858196.jpgIMG_20190512_153904330.jpg

I wondered why the PO had it set so low and difficult to lift.
