F20 Pulling Tractor

Going through some old photos recently and found this and thought you might enjoy
Probably taken mid 1970’s. This at a farm I use to work at in my teens and they put together an old F20 pulling tractor pretty much at the time pulling was starting to get popular. Remember going out there many a night helping the guys. Fun times .
Had a 401 Buick (nail head) motor and two 4’s. Ran a 3 speed automatic in front of the tractor transmission . Did mostly all local pulls. Later they extended the frame and added a second 401 along with bigger tires Competitive for a while but eventually got to time consuming and expensive.

That thing is bad@$$, Bill, then add another nailhead? bet that tractor sounded great! The nailheads had a very distinctive sound!

Boy that’s how every hobby gets of that sort. When we played with dirt track cars it was “cheap” then became more expensive than I could afford at the time.

That’s the reason I got out of the old stationary engine hobby years ago. Finding and buying them was fun and then the prices went through the roof. Looks like they are starting to come back down. In another 50 years I might consider getting some again.
