Well the fall plowing is done its about the same time of year as the last 2 3 years but this year the ground was nice and dry easy plowing no dirt sticking to the plow or tractor. This will probably be the last plowing as I'm thinking no garden next year

Looks like that Economy made short work of that plowing. You might want to reconsider a garden for next year Gary. I read some terrible things the other night about our food sources going into next year. Farmers all over the world are not producing like normal because of expenses and no fertilizer available. Droughts everywhere, shortage of diesel fuel, feed supplies low or not in stock, and parts for equipment on back order or not at all. I know every year we say we’re cutting back but we don’t. We have always canned and frozen things but even more so this year expecting things to get bad later.

I see your soil is black like ours. Looks nice and no rocks.
I didn't plow. I either use the large tiller on the back of the tractor or the tiller on the Craftsman. Was going to make the garden smaller and plant grass in that area but it's so dry that spring is looking better.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

That's my plan also workup the south half and plant grass, will just have 4 tomato plants a few spuds maybe a cabbage or 2 and call it good about 25 x 25' area

Good size garden Gary. The one I have now is about 50’X 30’. But I space my potatoe rows about 5’ or more apart, centre to centre. That way I can get the tractor thru to do what ever. I have one other one 10’ X 20’. One row of potatoes in the centre. Gives me 5’ either side of the row to use the tractor.

I forgot to say that when plowing yesterday I found the lost potatoes got about an ice cream pail they had been hiding under the squash vines and I tried the potato digger but never found them but the plow did, was kind of a poor potato crop this year but what we got will feed us for about 3 months

That’s not to bad of a crop Gary. I think I got enough till first of February, maybe. Mine didn’t do that great either. One row out of 7, had very little in it. And the other rows just so so.
Try again next year I guess.

We're still cleaning the garden, then we can disc it nice, load it with compost to sit thru freezes and thaws to work it over. I'm two weeks out from plowing.
