pulled this GT19.9 out of winter storage today, started easy, ran well and drove nice, charging 13v at idle, 14+v a high rpm, it mostly just needs a good cleaning and basic maintenance. Have the deck with it and Im going to add a 3pt with cultivator. Might have some ATV tires IF they fit under the fenders. Seat is probably the worst thing on it... well that and the layers of old grease/oil. Lol

I expect they are pretty decent for most yard and garden chores, and it does drive/steer nice, but at only about 640# they are kind of a light weight compared to many GTs of that era.

After being parked in the shop overnite I now see there is a fuel leak at the tank.. hopefully just a bad hose connection and not a crack in the plastic tank.
 
Had the gas tank off today fixing a bad fuel line connection then started fitting the 3pt hitch and cultivator. I dont have the top link so I just put a couple bar straps in place of it until I get something fabricated.

Today I put the Sears up on jack stands about 6" off the floor so I could see how long the center link needs to be, it will be adjustable so the angle can be changed depending on the depth used, it will go about 8"-9" deep. Tomorrow I'll get a couple yolks made with 3/4 ready rod and splicer nuts and it should be ready to go diggin'.

Not a single drop of fuel on the floor today so the leak is fixed ;)

Thx... simple designs usually last the longest and this can go with the tractor even if a buyer doesnt want the cultivator. It started to rain when I was painting so I brought them in to cure in the oven... still hasnt quit raining so the humidity is now too high for another coat today. Think I should pick up one more coupling nut and weld it to the center of the ready rod so that there is a place to put a wrench on it years from now if/when it gets gets rusty.

In other news... got a text msg late last night from a guy asking if I was interested in buying a couple interesting items.... I replied yes but dont have a location as of yet.

No idea what brand this old walk behind sickle mower might be but it looks like a fun project...

Turns out these rigs are in two differant spots but both are local so Im supposed to pick them up on friday after my bus run.. it might even stop raining by then... maybe. Lol

Dont want to get ahead of myself but Ive always thought one of those front mount sickle mowers would look so good on my RaM ;)
 
More nice scores. Lance! Looks like you have gotten your name out real well!

Way back in the early 1980's I got a walk behind sickle mower similar to that one, given to me. Two stroke, non-running. I had no shop to work in at the time so I gave it to another friend who was making a living scrapping. Now I wish it was still laying around here. It would have been fun to adapt the cutter head to the MF1450.

well they arent mine yet but the guy did contact me and then responded again with a price and locations... price is pretty low so I offered to send an etrans but he said no we can settle up when we meet. Seems like a done deal but we all know how these things can fall thru.

I had a similar cutting head a few years ago but it just didnt line up to the RaM very nicely so I let it go... from the pic I think this one might work out better and look more period correct... that would be enough to make it worth while for me... Hoping but not holding my breath. Lol
 
There isnt any place in the yard to test the cultivator out but I can probably find a small area out side the yard along the edge of the canola... but I think I want some different rear tires under it first. It seems to mow nice and level but I havent sharpened the blades yet so I had to go pretty slow. I want pull the spindles out and check the bearings so I'll sharpen the blades while its apart.

Kind of an awkward thing to climb onto, and it rides rough like any typical old tractor, but everything except the blade brake and one headlight is working... once I give it a good lube I think it will be a pretty decent tractor and good rough area mower.
 
Well this Sears sold today... I had what I thought was a pretty high asking price of $1800 but I gave the guy $300 trade in value on two tractors that he brought with him.... one is a JD130 that I had sold once already to another guy several years ago and now its back here.Lol... altho in pretty rough condition so I think it might just get parted out, the other is an '07 Craftsman YS 4500 that needs a bit of work but I should be able to get well more than $300 for it.

227 L/G tractors now sold to date ;)
