Just seen this brought up on another forum and also many other times what to do about the 1044r safety washer that Sears used on their 36"-38" right angle gear box mowers and some other tractors used something very similar. The washer is no longer available as well as the blades and leaves people asking what to do with no answers. Found this U tube video that "Taryl fix all" (if you can handle the guy) made how they worked around it. Will work well but keep in mine it is now a solid connection with no protection to the cross shaft or gear boxes if you were to hit something hard. Just thought I pass it along but buyer beware.
