Upon looking closer at the headlamps, I'm staying with the '39. Think a hearse would have been totally enclosed (no back side glass). But just my guess. plus the spotlights on the front windshield. More inline with an emergency vehicle. May have been an ambulance too!

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you live on an island? Out in the Gulf of St. Lawrence?
The state I live in is 25 times larger, and has 75 times the population. And I never get to see that many vintage vehicles in such a short time.
Keep it up I'm enjoying all the pictures.

I think Kenny nailed it on the '39 Ford. Far as use, it sure is an unusual looking panel! Some kind of emergency vehicle. 4 doors and a panel body behind that is something I've never seen before! PEI is full of cool old iron!

Factory order or custom built 4 door. Nice vehicle.
Actor John Wayne had a International ”suburban” custom ordered with raised roof so he would not have to remove his cowboy hat to enter. He used the vehicle for hunting.
