Little bit done on the deck. Lubed the idler and brake brackets so they move easy and greased idler and drive pulley bearings.
Scraped of loose paint, blew dust off with air gun.
Sprayed pulleys with some gray paint.
Use propane tank green paint for first coat. Thinned it so it would run and soak into the rust spots. Brushed on.
Second coat will be the same, just with black mixed in paint to sort of match tractor.
Grass is starting to grow.

This is going on a yardworks lawn tractor Doug. It some thing I got do nothing. I fixed it up a bit and got it running. But the deck was very bad. So fixed up the deck, but knew it would not last long. Found this deck to have when the other one went. So it went at the end of the season last year. The lawn trackor is dark green. So I’ll try to match it a bit when I put the second coat on.
This tractor is about 15/20 years old. It’s the newest one in my fleet hehe. Works great.

Here’s a picture of it off the internet. This one is not mine, but mine is the same.

Bit more done today. Second coat of paint. I could not get the colour mix I wanted, but put it on any way.

But I knew of a way to get it some what close to the tractor colour.

And once I cut grass with it once or twice and git some dirt on it, who’s gunna know or care.

Black spray paint. Gave it a very light coat to darken it. Looks close.

Just an old lawn tractor, to cut grass.

Sure would like some of those kind of deals to come my way! Looks like that deck will match the internet picture just fine. Looks good.

Well. Knocked the rust off the bottom. Got the blades off. First coat of thin paint on the bottom. Next coat will be the same colour. I don’t think any body will be under the deck to see it the colour matches the tractor. Hehe.
The spindles or what ever you call them, where the blade bolts on, have grease nipples in them. That’s amazing.
Will be needing new blades, maybe, I guess. I’ll see what the blades on the other deck I’m replacing, are like before I buy new ones.

So. Got the tractor home and took old deck off. The deck I fixed up will replace the old one. I wonder if I could get one more year out of the rusty deck. Hehe.
Any way the bearing in the double pulley went, is why it stopped working last year.
More pictures soon. Nice to have a winch to lift stuff. I coulda lifted it, but why.

So. The belt, idler pulley, wheels, spindles and blades are reuseable. So all I need right now are the blades. I’ll clean them a bit and sharpen some. Oh, I did need one wheel.
