Head repair question.

Anybody have any ideas on how to repair this head. Seems to have a hole right through. This came off one of my engines a number of years ago. Just be good to have as a spare.

When I posted this a number of years ago on gtt, someone else had same trouble. Exactly the same hole in there head. Can’t remember what ever came out of those posts.

I gotta watch which way I stand outside in the wind. Wind goes right thru. Hehe

lol.. well JB Weld probably has a better chance of working than the Alum Brazing suggestion from the guy on FB.

toss it out Noel, its not like its some rare hard to find part.

I agree to toss it. Only viable option is to TIG weld it, and paying to have it done would cost more than quite a few good used ones.

I just like fixin things if I can. I’m kinda like my father. Fix it, or make it, then buy used, then if have to, buy new.
After putting the head on the LGT 100 this week got me to thinking about this old head.
This head and a broken rod have been beside the garage door for a reminder to check the oil before usin the tractors.

Drill it.
tap it.
and put a bolt in it
sealed with loctite
grind it smooth on the inside.
might work
might not
Would sure be better than leaving the hole Unfortunately aluminum and steel expand at different rates. Also it appears there is a crack running up to the hole. Looks like the perfect candidate for the aluminum scrap pile.
