Help with a John Deere 425

I have a john deere 425 that when you pull the pto switch on at kills the motor,Not every time but most of the time.The motor lugs big time and the deck turns but the tractor dies.When it does work it lugs for a bit then gets up to speed and everything is fine/We are talking a 60 in deck.This winter I had to drop the trans axle down to put some new o rings in around the shafts on each side of the trans,Not the axle shafts just small control ones.It went just fine.I really dont know much about these yet.Any ideas would be helpful ,Thanks

Bad seat switch? Had a cub I was working on would do the same thing. Even ordered a new PTO switch before I figured I didn't hook up the safety switch at the seat.

Your going to have to start checking your idiot switches and connections on them.

Reed, I'd check the deck to make sure you don't have spindle locked up also check the mule drive. It's not a safety switch if the PTO comes on and lugs the engine down and kills it. IMO
