hydraulic control lever on my M-H Pony, knob?

There are no threads on the lever that controls the control valve on my Pony. I have not been able to find a picture anywhere showing a Pony with a knob on the lever. Did they come with no knob?
 
The lever that is on mine is round. I thought maybe it originally had threads and had been cut or broken off but someone on another site showed me a picture of a Pony with a round lever and the knob was a round ball but extended down the lever a couple of inches, tapered it appeared. I might have to cut some threads and use a shift knob if I can't find a lever with the correct knob already attached. Thanks.
