Ignition switch

Dose the switch that is installed run the starter current thru the switch if so you may have to installed a starter solenoid as those OEM switch's are very hard to find a new replacement that will work is a Stens 430-538 this switch is for magneto ignition and requires a starter solenoid, well I was wrong here's a new one

The "R" looks to be ground as there is copper under the terminal that goes to the switch housing. I've never seen an R used for ground. Look The M goes to magneto to ground out ignition and kill it. If the switch still works some, you can test the R to be absolutely certain. Put volt meter on ohms and with key in off position there should be connection between them and when turning key to any other positions there should be an open line between R and M.

The terminal at 7 or 8 o'clock doesn't seem to have a corresponding letter? The ground is at 9 o'clock. You can see the copper going under it to the housing. Just be CERTAIN that any new switch is NOT sending any voltage to M, the magneto circuit as it will fry the coil for good!

Yep I'm pretty sure its a ground the later Suburbans had a fiberglass/plastic dash so it needed a ground wire from the tractor to the switch
