Son got me this for Xmas last year and just getting around to putting it in. Just a foolish gadget, but has an hour meter, that I like, helps reminded you to do the service at what ever hours you want. Has an rpm meter, can be a little usefull, maybe and a temperature meter. Sort of interested in that because this gadget is going on my Case 224. I just kinda want to see what the hydraulic fluid temperature is. Like I said , just a fun gadget.

I could see that being a handy gadget.... just for curiosity you could use it to see how the idle speed affects the fluid temps... which in turn would also somewhat reflect the engine temps.

Is 790 your idle speed? I think I might be running all my air cooled engines a bit higher but Ive never had a tach on them to check.

It’s around there Lance. It idles slow this tractor. But I keep them around 1100 to 1200. I checked it against a vibration tach. There’s about 25 rpm difference. Hard to say which one is correct, if either. Just a guide. My LGT165 Ford idles around 1200. It has a tach/hour meter too. It’s been in the tractor for 17 years. They help to remind you to service at 25 hour intervals.
And temperature gauge on this one I just installed, is very close to the garage temperature. Off by one or two degrees celsius.

A little better test. Idle is up a bit after running for 0.4 of an hour. Temperature is good. One thing about the temperature is. As I get use to where it sorta runs at, if my oil cooler starts to plug up with grass or what ever I’ll see the temperature rise. And hopefully know to check it.
