John Deere 420 grass gunk build up

I got my John Deere 420 mowing, I have mowed with it for maybe 3 hours (through out 2 days). Anyway I had to quit mowing because the belt jumped off. I got time today to remove the deck and put the belt back on. I noticed the pulleys are harder turning and the blades where scraping the underside of the deck. I picked the deck up to find it completely packed full of grass and gunk. I find this odd for the amount of mowing time I put in, I know the decks should be cleaned out quite often but this seems insane. I did all my mowing in the afternoon, everything should of been dry but anymore with our humidity, I don't know if anything dries.

Anyway, anything I can do to help prevent such bad build up so fast??? Before I put this mower deck on, I picked it up with my loader and pressurewashed it out.
Sorry the pictures aren't the best and they don't show it justice. I started scraping a little bit of gunk out and it got dark on me.

I'm guessing I lost the belt due to the mower deck being "full" and becoming overloaded. The belt seems to be in good shape which is good because I bet it's pricey!!!

Was the deck clean before you started mowing? How tall was the grass?

I cleaned the underside of the deck before I mounted it the first time, even pressure washed it. The first thing I mowed with it was the ditches around the wheat field which was grass 8 to 10" tall with weeds up to 2'. Maybe that was my issue? I didn't really think much of it.

Looks like a combination of wet grass and a shallow deck, meaning short on capacity. Remember that deck is a lawn mower, not a bush hog. Mowing those conditions around your field will require frequent cleaning.

That is probably gonna happen with that tall of grass. It has enough moisture to stick to the deck and you had it loaded pretty heavy at that depth. I would have mowed it high first to top every thing. That would get rid of about half the clippings.
