John Deere 430 Diesel

A few months ago I happened upon a JD 430 diesel tractor, it had been sitting for several years but it started right up with a jump start.
Its got a 60" deck with no rust through, four good tires and just under 1500 hours.
Basically it needs a new battery and an oil change.

Although I considered keeping it around here and maybe finding a snow plow for it, I realize its just too big for a tiny yard.
I was wondering what one of these are worth?
I see prices all over the place, anywhere from $1500 for a rough machine to over $8k for one in nice condition with several attachments.
I listed it for sale on CL but go nothing but scammers and $50 offers.

The thing looks good and it runs, the deck needs a repaint but its got no rust through, the blades are like new. I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10 overall.
The last owner was a personal friend who passed away after a long illness, I bought this from his estate, along with most of the other machines he had, most of it being
larger farm tractors and construction equipment.
I know what the heavy equipment is worth, but I'm not that familiar with lawn and garden tractors or what they're worth.

I'm guessing you got it for a good deal. Under a $1000 is a very good deal if it's in the condition you say. They go for $1500 to $3500 around here. Sounds like yours would be in the $2500 to $3000 range. Keep in mind that's in this area.

I've been looking around at a few other 430's both locally and pics online, I notice some differences in some of these.
The most noticeable is the rear filler neck. On some, there's an elbow and a black plastic hose attached right below the cap, and on some there's a screw or bolt in that hole? Did they move the vent on the tank in later years?
Mine has the bolt, the boss that its plugging goes halfway across the filler neck, making it impossible to put a gauge cap in the hole, even without the bolt. (My cap is just a plain cap with a vent on top of the cap). I bought a new gauge cap and it won't fit into the filler neck.
I've run this quite a bit now and the return fuel has to go somewhere, so its not just a missing line and plugged hole.
Every one I've seen has the same 1/4" phillips headed screw with a flange nut on the inside plugging that hole. I've seen 7 now with the plugged hole, and 9 with the elbow and fuel hose attached there. Those with the line were all earlier models, 85 to 88 models.
