Hi all, this was the one for me that started the hobby, and I don’t want it to give up.

I had to get a new needle and seat for my jd 68, put that in and had already had the carburettor apart about 2/3 Times, cleaned and the jets all clear. Now the problem, it will not start unless fuel is directly put into the carb through the air filter hole. Fuel is getting through to the carburettor and has filled the bowl etc. Honestly I don’t know what to do and help is very very very much appreciated. I don’t want the old deere to quite, it’s a jd 68 with a Briggs 8hp engine

After it starts, does it stay running? If fuel is getting into the bowl, it will drain if you take the adjustment screw out. If it drains, take a spray nozzle with the straw and spray it up the tube the needle valve came out of.

Ok thanks, when it starts it does not stay running thereafter. I will ultrasonic clean the carb tomorrow and see if that helps, I hope this goes.

Here's a couple pics of the carb on my 68.

Update, today I ultrasoniced the carb and now it runs ok. I need to set the jets, but it’s going! Thanks guys bye Kenny, what’s the big upside down ‘U’ shaped bar in front of the engine, but behind the gearbox I can see in picture 2, I don’t have that
That's the seat pan support.
