A few yrs ago I acquired a Toro Wheelhorse 15/44 with a blown engine for nothing. Bought a Kawasaki engine out of a John Deere from a friend for $25. Installed it and it has had a small oil leak between the block and pan. Been bored lately so pulled it out yesterday(sorry, no pics) and removed the pan and found a small section of gasket missing. Called my favorite local parts guy and he found it is NLA from Kawasaki and John Deere, so I cleaned up the old gasket and mating surface with acetone and ran a bead of good gasket silicone all the way around. This machine is NOT mechanic friendly in R&Ring the engine as you have to drop the deck, which is a task in itself, and pull it out to access all the bolts underneath. Two of these have ell brackets for retaining the belts on the pulleys so it's a little bit of a tight space to work in to get everything in place on reinstallation. Got it all back together and running today . Won't need it 'til the leaves start falling as it is my leaf vac. I have the chipper mounted on the rear in use as a fan to blow leaves in a trailer I pull behind it.
