What is this for. Is it an indicator, or is it suppose to have a handle coming out of it.

Thanks Chris. Got a buddy looking to buy one and he was wondering what it was for. I never had one to know.

It's a "forward/neutral/reverse" indicator, but rather silly if you ask me. If you're driving and have to look down to know which direction you're going, you really shouldn't be operating it! LOL
