MF8E transaxle

Hi Fanatics, I'm thinking a gasket/seal kit is in order for the MF8E if such a thing exists. I had mistakenly thought it was a Peerless but with Lance Skene's help determined it was not. I could do some searches in more detail with an I.D. on this transaxle.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Here's pics.

Have no idea. Sure is not the same as a MF 7. But similar in build. Yours looks to be much more rugged.
Paper gaskets you could make. Other seals could be measured and got at a local farm or big truck centre.
Just some ideas.

Thanks Noel, I was hoping to have stuff "on hand" before I tore it down so it wouldn't lay around the shop in pieces while searching.

The motomow.forumotion.com forum died years ago - that's when a bunch of us went to GTtalk. Thanks for letting us know about the facebook group.

As far as I know they are unique to Porter-Cable or Dura garden tractors. MF Executives and Moto-mower GTs. They don't come up for sale very often. It may take a while, but they do show up from time to time.

I had to make my own set of axle seals 2 years ago... simpler that way, less down time.

That’s mechanically the same tractor as my moto mower 6020.

Nice tractor Greasy! Most definitely can see the similarities to the Executive. Would you share how you made the axle seals?

Thanks---DAC

I found the numbers for the axle seals! Kris, @Gtractor had given them to me a couple of years ago. I checked on my old computer and found a picture he had posted! I miss that old computer badly, but the internet powers that be made sure that Windows XP won't do internet anymore. It still works fine other than internet! Here's the numbers if anyone needs them for an MF Executive, Moto Mower, Porter Cable or any other Dura product.

Thanks again Kris!---DAC

You are welcome Doug

When I made that repair I figured those seals would only slow the leakage as it was so bad. Sealed it up good and haven't leaked any since the new seals.

That's good to know Kris!

I've got a couple coming from Amazon, just under 22 bucks shipped. I didn't see very many for that price though. Ebay ones were around 20 bucks each shipped.

Cardboard:p

Took seal retainers off, used them as pattern to trace and cut od, took hub off n used it to make hole for axle by tapping with smallest hammer I could find.

I doubled it up, 2 seals each side. Doesn’t leak anymore

Memory is fuzzy, and I’m kinda tired

If it works, that is what counts! Cardboard is a lot cheaper than the seals! Thanks for the tip!
