If I recall correctly models 6000 and 6001 and earlier were white with a blue front axle.
The model 6008 has the footrest swivels for the clutch/brake.
I have a couple 6020s and they have the fixed foot rest (a steel rod) and a clutch/brake lever.

The more I learn about these tractors, the more I exceptions I see.
I am looking to sell two mid 1960's Moto-Mowers, in wisconsin. Any suggestions
Scott

Hi Scott. That's a wide reaching question.
- current market for garden tractors
- moto-mower values
- how to make them presentable
- sites and wordings

You may want to start a thread.

I don't have my ear to the ground like I used to - other priorities in life have taken over.

Hi my son saved this from the crusher at the local scrapyard. What year is it? 64 or 65?

Seeing if anybody has any info on this. Been looking for awhile on picking up an old lawn tractor to refurb. Came across this one in the pic for $100. The guy that I bought it from said he had it running, and actually mowed with it some. Sit for a while or so and didn’t do anything with it. It’s has a spark, and good compression on the pull start. So hopefully something easy to get it going. I’m no mechanic, so if it gets to deep I’ll have to take it to a guy I know. Anyway he told me this one easy rare cause it has Hardy on it, which my understanding is Brinley-hardy attachments. He said the was involved with moto- mowers on some build? Not sure i haven’t seen any info on that. Just some on moto- mowers. I believe it’s a 1965. Here in the pics I started to disassemble everything. Cleaning it up and getting it ready for prep for paint. Also I have a question on the brake/ clutch. Should it release once your foot is off of it, once it’s down it stays down.im guessing it should be that’s in the spring. You would have to Manually pull it back. Not sure how it works?

Yeah @Coop there definitely should be a return spring and the Moto Mower info you found should be right for your tractor. I think it's a Moto-Mower and someone just lettered "Hardy" on the hood. They are Hardy little tractors!

Welcome to the forum.

Finally got a couple pictures of the Moto-Mower. The back lift is functional, but I need to make improvements so it will "lock" in the up position. I'd like to make a mid-lift like the Massey Executive models I've seen. That will have to wait 'til spring. The front bracket is for the snow blower that's still in the shed.View attachment 10673View attachment 10674View attachment 10675View attachment 10676

Lean and mean comes to mind, very nice.

Here's a thought from my sick, warped, mind.

Imagine this tractor being built for today's sophisticated buyer....

Customer:

"I'm looking for a garden tractor that can mow and use garden widgets or stuff"

Salesman:

"Do you mean ground engagement implements?"

Customer:

While on a smart phone, partially zoned out, "uh-huh"

Salesman:

"We have this real work horse, built to get the job done, without all those wimpy gimmicks!"

Customer:

"That!"

"The engine is less than a gazillion HP!"
"Where's the smart phone holder?"
"Where's the giant roll cage to protect me from the exposed rear wheels sucking me under and out of my seat?"
"The tractor looks like it will operate backwards and where's the warning labels reminding me of stuff called common sense?"
"Whats a manual transaxle?"
"How could it possibly run a small plow when it doesn't say garden tractor on the side?"
"That steel looks too thick, are they saving money on engineering?"
"For the same price, I can get cruise control, automatic transmission, fuel gauge, front headlights, 1000HP 2 cylinder engine (11 ft lbs torque) with 0 maintenance guarantee, power steering, Lots of stickers, and foot rests from your competition!"

Salesman:

"We have a competitor's model you can look at, low hours, barely used" "It came in on trade and has been in the shop ever since....."

Customer:

"What does it need?"

Salesman:

"Everything!"

I know, twisted sarcasm.... but.....

:)
