I had a trade going on with a buddy but after 6 or 8 months we decided to call this trade off. We have done trades before and will again but the distance between us makes it tougher.
Anyway after calling off this trade I decided to clean up the area where these tractors had been sitting and waiting.
I got started on it this evening.
There was a MF14,a heavy duty antique homemade,a Indy 500 Special Craftsman and,part of a MF7.
I got the Massey 14 into a building and drug the Homemade over by the building and got it trapped for the night as it got dark and the rain started.
The Craftsman is going up for sale and what's left of the Massey 7 is too. Along with a Craftsman sleeve hitch.
Hopefully I will get more moved out of the area tomorrow.
I want to put another shed where all this stuff was sitting.

The MF 14 must be an older model. No front running boards or foot rests. What ever there called. It doesn’t have them. Nice lookin shape tractor thou.

Noel.

Mines a 1976. It has the front things, whatever they are for ? A place to set tools maybe.

little OT but Im curious how well does the 710 do with 10hp? I have a 718 with bad valves so Im thinking of putting in a smaller K and selling it... then rebuilding the k361 for a future personal project.

Good looking Massey Noel.
This is an early 14. They were built from 72 thru 76.
You have a later one and I have a earlier one before the extended footrests, fenders or whatever they are lol.

Lance I can't say. I built this tractor from parts. The frame, sheet metal and steering is from a 710 3 speed. The bevel box back is from a 912 hydro.
The engine is a very nice cast iron 16 hp Briggs that I had sitting around. It's a later version with bendix ( gear drive starter) and internal stator behind the flywheel.
This tractor starts,runs and,drives beautifully.
It has new valves, new head gasket, new flywheel key,it has a factory pointless ignition that is freshly adjusted,I also just went thru the carb. It has a fresh oil change, air filter, fuel filter, etc.
Also fresh fluid and filter in the transaxle. I just greased all the fittings also.
Its definately one that I put together. I enjoy building and rebuilding these old tractors.
I call it a 7916 H because the front half is 700 series (7),the rear half is 900 series (9),and the engine is 16hp (16).
The rearend was shot in the 710,the front frame and axle were hacked so bad that the 912 was ruined and I had a nice cast 16 hp Briggs sitting around waiting for a home.
So I put them all together.

Ok thx.... well it sounds like a good combination... I actually prefer the B+S singles over the K series.. just seem to have more low rpm grunt... but I would like to rebuild this K361 to see how they are... this one runs but it pukes fuel out the carb due to the bad valve seats.

I agree Lance. I love my cast iron Briggs. I agree they have a stronger low end.

Yard art...you guys kill me.
These are so simple to take apart, put together and it's pure relaxing satifaction.
Not to mention lots of history that goes with these old machines that I like to save.
If a tractor gets rusty, the seat is shot and the tires go flat theres a big segment that sees parts and scrap, kills me.
This generation compared to the last generation that was rebuilding busted up thrashed hot rods, bikes and old Jeeps ?
Well it's just pretty sad that the last generation was "oh yeah, can do,that's easy" and this one is hard pressed to swap a battery out. Easy to see how the country has become a throw away consumer nation....OK,pet peeve rant over...for the minute....
Wheres my coffee.

well most of the time it was folks from the the last generation who pushed these tractors into the woods and weeds to rot away. alot these old timers I talk too always tell me these old garden tractors were meant to used and abused and kept running not about being original and restored. and belt and chain guards were for sissy's as they hold there hand with 3 fingers.

considering how many tractors I have sold... I should have one on a pole.Lol.... the Pioneer Acres Truck and Tractor museum on the other side of town has old massey and an old dodge pickup up on poles beside the highway.

Ya gotta realize some of these tractors have been sitting in the bush since BEFORE the internet came along.... those old guys didnt have the resources we have today, once the small local dealerships began to shut down it became harder and harder to keep these old tractors running. These days we can go online and often find a replacement part from 3000 miles away, pay for it online, and have it shipped to our door in a week.
