My Speedex S24

I found a Speedex S24 a couple of miles from my house. The S24 has a 10HP B&S engine. Mine runs great. The starter/generator had failed so a previous owner rigged up a starter from a S10 Chevrolet truck to it. It works but I hope to find a s/g to put back on it.IMG_20201114_135352081_HDR.jpgIMG_20201114_135454629_HDR.jpg The guy I bought it from had only the deck, but I went back to the previous owner and got plows and discs.
 
Yeah, it pivots with the lever that operates the lift. The S10 starter has a belt pulley on it so a belt has to be put on the engine & starter, tightened with the lever then the button pushed. When the engine starts and the lever released, the loose belt will jump off and can be hung around the steering wheel until needed again. It works until I can find a starter/generator. I plan to restore the tractor and the attachments. I believe it's a 1971 model.

Pretty creative fix for a starter! I would have thought that tractor was quite a bit older than 1971.
