Hey hi!
Looking to make contact with others who own or can source parts/information/mods etc for a Honda RT500.
I just picked one up from the original owner's son. Came with a 3 blade mower deck, a snowblower with quick connect and a gravel/snow blade.
The previous owner built a fully enclosed steel cab for it. Not the prettiest thing in the world but will probably be appreciated on those cold, windy nights in 2 feet of snow. Everything worked A1 when I brought it home except for the front PTO clutch, which suffered a bearing failure causing a hard-to-find ball retainer to explode beyond repair.
I managed to find a different clutch that contained the same retainer and got her going last night.
Seems like an impressively capable little tractor. Anyone know much about this model?

Welcome! What a neat tractor, but I can't say I have ever seen one before. Looks very capable.

Thanks for the welcome. :)
I have a friend who's a Honda certified mechanic at a Honda car dealership. He's a huge Honda fan and he's never seen one either. The RT5000 was the kitten of the series.
11HP single cylinder.
Front and rear Q-PTO
Front and rear hydraulic cylinders.
3 point hitch
4 x 4
4 wheel steering
Diff lock
Hi-Lo range = 8FWD/4REV

Cool little tractor. A lot of features in it too. And that homemade cab looks pretty nice to me.. Looks like he did a decent job on it.

Very interesting looks like a nice rig. Maybe a snowmobile, a tractor & an atv ran into each other & created this. I like it

The cab's weight will help somewhat as a counterweight against the blower but a counterweight on the back will also help. The cab won't seem so ugly from the inside while blowing snow. Does it have any kind of cab heat?
Mike

Never seen one before. My dads old neighbor had a honda lawn tractor but it was nothing but trouble. It was a pretty light duty lawn tractor and he had a lot of trouble with the hydrostat drives

I do enjoy how it looks like Honda had extra parts left over from their Honda foreman/fourtrax lines and just used them for the hood.

The guy I got it from said his dad stayed warm from engine heat. We'll see! lol

Welcome!

Google found an owner's manual over at GTtalk. Other than that, not much was found. Is the clutch on the engine, or a separate component?
It has a wet clutch...I'm guessing like a motorcycle? I have all the manuals including the service manual but haven't read much past what I needed to know to rebuild the front PTO clutch, but I'll be snooping around and reading up lots over the winter. There are several videos on YouTube of this model and it's big brother the 5013.

From the sounds of these replies, it sounds like an orphan. What does it have for an engine? It looks pretty nice cab and all to me.
11hp single cylinder OHV. 8:1 comp. Air cooled. I graded my panhard driveway 3" deep with gravel rolling off both sides of the blade and never heard the motor change pitch the entire time. I guess it's all about gearing and traction.

Only ever seen one in person, but not.sure if it had all that connectivity on the front. Anyways, seemed like a great machine that just wasn't kept on the market long enough to get traction.

Speaking of traction.
Find the oldest lady that lives close. Ask her if her husband had any old truck chains laying around and of so, could you buy them?

I love visiting old widows, but not for chain.
