Got new lenses for the refreshed Case 446. Put them I this evening. Nice difference in the look and much brighter. Have to wait and see if any difference at night. This tractor is the one that has those led lights. They were not to bright in the dark I found, so we will see what the new lenses do.

think I still have one pair of the glass ones somewhere.... but I still have maaaaaany boxes that havent even been opened since last winters move.

If you goto an RC hobbie shop your can buy a lexan paint that will give the plastic lenses a darker smoked appearance.... it wont affect the lighting much but it will stop them from turning yellow over time.

these little Fords had an OEM smoked plastic cover over the lights and they were clear as new underneath..... they dont appear bright during the day time but at night they worked fine.... something similar would look good on those Case tractors.

I spray them with tremclad clear paint. It helps stop the yellowing. Most of the trouble with the plastic lenses is the heat from the bulb. Melts them. The buckets should have some ventilation to let some of the heat out.

That sure looks like it made a huge difference, Noel! Give us a progress report when you get it outside in the dark! I was meaning to ask since I'm not sure how far north PEI is. Do you have extended periods of dark or near dark conditions? I'm pretty sure you're not near as far north as say, Anchorage, Alaska. My wife lived there as a early teenager and said that there were times like that there.

Jumpins Doug. I might have knew her. No dark periods here really.
Around Xmas sunsets are at 4:30pm or so, sunrise about 7:30am or so.

Ya, had it out in the dark a while ago. Defiantly can see now. Be better when that S word stuff is on ground. But not a fan of led lights. I think, the older yellowish lights were better. But that’s just me and my age. If I was young, I’d say the leds are better, because that’s what your used to.

Glad the lights are better! I'm definitely not a big fan of LED headlights for automotive purposes, I don't mind driving them too much but seeing them coming at me is kind of blinding at times. Probably will never know on GT's---LOL! When them youngun's get old they may think different too!

Did you live in the Anchorage area back in the early 70's, Noel? I think you and her are around the same age. It sounds like your sunrise and sunsets are similar to ours here. It actually is "sundown" about 4:30 in that part of December for us so I go to work in the dark (5:30 am) and drive home in almost dark (4:45 pm).

The new lens look good Noel good to hear they are working better, I seldom work in the dark now days but do use the lights when plowing or blowing the whites stuff as my shop is right on the end of the street so its for visibility

Yes Daniel. Third picture is of the new left lense, both led bulbs. Second picture is the new left lense and old lense on the right. First picture is old lenses with lights on and fourth picture is new lenses with lights on.

Lenses should last a long time now. No heat from the led lights, and try to keep the sunlight off them too.
