Hello all,

The original front tire size on my SS12 is 16x5.50-8, what are y'all using? I'm looking for a ribbed or ag tire, or whatever you think would work best for steering while plowing snow. I may have found a set of Deestone tri-rib for $50 each, would a more common 4.80x8 work?

Also, would it help steering in snow if the front tires were loaded? I'd guess about a gallon to fill each, so roughly 16 lbs. total.

Thanks,

Steering is always an issue with a snow thrower on the front as you are trying to push snow sideways while turning. I run tri-rib but when I need to turn some I raise the thrower just enough to put the weight on the front wheels but not leave snow behind. Easier to do with a manual lift than with hydraulic lift. This is what works for me but is not the only answer by any means.
