No spark

I need some advise. Trying to get the fresh K321 fired for the JD 214. I am getting no spark at the spark plug. When I put the multi meter on the coil with ground on negative side of the coil I get 0.0 volts. meter ground on battery or the body/frame I get 12(ish) volts at the coil. I ran a jumper cable from the negative side of coil to the battery and still no spark at the spark plug. Thoughts? Points, bad coil (brand new)?

Just tried a different coil with the same outcome.

I thought the battery voltage went to the + side of the coil. - goes to the points/condenser.

how clean is the ground for the battery an the rest of the wiring?

Did you paint the block? May not be grounding to the frame!

Check also the plug in back of the ignition switch.

I did paint the block, will check on that. All other wires and terminals are clean and or new.
Ignition switch seems to be good. Getting power to the coil.

Make sure area behind the points is clean/bare metal

Yeah, I will check the points tonight. Make sure they are set right and whatnot

Well oddly enough I have spark now. Not sure why as I didn't actually change anything. But now it appears I am not getting gas through the carb, so I guess that's coming back off...
