This is the nicest Wheel Horse Work Horse I have seen around here in years.
This one is a 1142.
I have known this tractor for probably the last 10 years.
A very well taken care of tractor.
Only used to push snow with for the most part the last 10 years and not even much of that.
I don't think he used it at all the last three years.
It needs a wash and wax but its a beauty and it runs and drives pretty much like new.
It does have incorrect rear wheels but I have correct rear wheels.

That is a nice tractor! Was it some type of edition?
Ryan the Work Horse series were built a few years in the early 80s.
81,2 and 3 iirc.
They were only sold thru hardware stores, etc, not thru Wheel Horse dealers.
They were Wheel Horse taking a shot at "economy" type tractors.
They were powered by Briggs instead of Kohler engines. That and the paint was what made them different.
Their were smaller LT versions and these GT versions. Next up the later from this one was the 1642. Then the top of the line was the 1848.
It was a 18hp hydro.
These tractors could also be bought without a deck. When sold without a deck they were called 1100,1600,1800.
These tractors preceded the 3,4 and 500 series Wheel Horse tractors.
The 3,4,500 series came out after Wheel Horse stopped offering the Work Horse series. But the new 3,4,500 were restyled like the Work Horse series and that styling ran thru the end of Wheel Horse production in 2007.
The Work Horse 1100 and 1600 were basically the same as a 8 speed 300 series. They used the 8 speed transaxle with 1 inch axles and 4 pinion differential. The 1100 had a 11hp aluminum Briggs single. The 1600 had a 16 hp Briggs twin
The 1800 hydro was like a 400 series. It used a Eaton 11 hydro and had the 8 pinion diff with 1 1/8th axle shafts. It also had hydraulic lift.
While the 300,400 and 500 series did get their styling from the Work Series the Work Horse sheetmetal,up close and small detail wise,is just different enough that if restoring a Work Horse and doing it right you need actual Work Horse sheet metal.
