Has anyone here ever used a JD GT 235 for a plow tractor?

17 HP ,
75 lbs. on each back wheel

I take it you’re talking about plowing dirt not snow.
I have found that for a GT it’s easier to maintain a constant speed with a standard transmission. You can do it with a hydro but you’re constantly changing the settings.
The 235 isn’t really set up for that kind of work. Is there even a hitch available to raise and lower the plow with.

It has a factory sleeve hitch on it . I have plowed with it a little, but can't get tuned in the way I want.

Without seeing or knowing what type of soil your working with it's going to be difficult to give you much help but I would say your 235 is not suited for this type of work. Your machine is more suited to doing lawn work than turning soil.

Thanks for the info. My biggest problem is the front axle is wider then the rear axle. I need to get the inside of the front and rear tires in line.

Might be able to flip the tires and wheels inside out. Front or back ones and that might help. Wheels might have an offset that would change the width of the track.

I've already done that. They are centered. No offset. going to make spacers.

You might figure the amount of offset and get a spacer if the rear wheels are bolted on.

I got 2 in. spacers today same bolt pattern as my Mustang. Its raining now maybe tomorrow I get them put on. those 75 lb. weights on the wheels are a bitch.

If you think 75# are bad I made a set of 95# back when I had my first tractor and I wish I still had them.

I got the 2 in. spacers mounted. 24 in. between back tires, now the inside of the front and rear tires are in line. should plow a lot better now. One weight on and o.ne to go

I went to GW plow day in Noble, IL. It did a good job. I had some engine trouble. The fuel pump was pumping gas into the oil. I installed a new pump going to Keck Gonnerman plow day this weekend.
