PORTER-CABLE 24-Gallon Portable Air Compressor

My air compressor for some reason stopped working. At first i was thinking that the motor was locked up but its good. I did find a way just now that it will work and thats to take the filter out and put my finger in the hole and it fires right now. Check the check valve usually located in the tank connection from the pump.

That's pretty strange. Isn't air supposed to enter where your finger is? Obviously, I'm clueless.

It always did before. Not sure what happened

Have you taken the check valve apart at the tank? Sounds like maybe it's somehow stuck, or a blockage somewhere. By pitting your finger over the intake, it prevents any pressure building which locks the pump.

The only thing i have taken apart so far is take the plastic cover off. The check valve is the part that has the 2 lines and the plug at the back that is in the one pic ?
