Most of our stuff is up except for what was just planted a few days ago. One row of beans is up but the row 1`2" from it arn't up yet? Peas just poking through. Burpless cucs are breaking through but picklers aren't. The main part with the row crop is fenced, but the rest is open so will declare war on the rabbits. Going to move one of the brush piles and they loose a hiding spot.

Stuff is growin in my wittle gardens. Potatoes that I didn’t plant are doin good.
Over at my sons place, some potatoes are coming up in the patch I planted to grass.

The soybeans they planted on our land are up and the Canadian Geese were out there feasting Saturday. Got on the Fordson and chased them away. Goofy critter's are like a mowing machine when they line up and start across a field.
Been cool and wet here so I don't think anything is up yet. We need some BTU's to get things going.

Everything but the Pumpkins are up. Peas are spotty as are the beans. One row of beans is up good but the row 10" from, planted with the sdame planter only has a couple up. Had one hill of burpless cucs that didn't come up so will replant that hill. Pumpkins are a little slower and I forgot to soak the seeds in water before planting.

The row of cans are the Sweet Potatoes we planted last evening in the sprinkles. Surprised not one was ate off this morning as I was 10 can short of doing all of them. Used coffee containers to finish up with this morning. Flags are hills off Acron Squash, Musk Melson, Watermelon and Pumpkins, 2 hills each from camera end to the far end. Removed the rings for everything and put the cages up around the tomatoes. I use the light weight cattle panels, cut so 3 openings to each piece, hog ring them together to make a square. Fold flat for storage.

Planting is done in this area for the most part. Neighbor has a bunch of hay down and is bailing every day. Beans are just coming through engough to row but the corn is up in nice shape. Should get three cutting of hay this year with all the rain, if it don't just dry up completely now.

Potatoes are a growin. Seems like their growing an inch a day. All the stuff is growin. The potatoes behind the house, that I didn’t plant are doing great, hehe, last picture.

Potatoes, yes, they are going gang busters!

Even from a distance, they are huge. No bugs yet!

Peas are climbing nicely too. In a few weeks, both trellis would be completely covered.

We will not talk corn. My friend's is already knee high. Ours is still asleep in the dirt !

Keep an eye on those potatoes. That happened to me last year. They covered in the 3 1/2’ space between the rows. I ended up with moles digging under ground and chewing on the potatoes. Was so bad that the ground would fall away from under your feet with all the tunnels they made. The reason I think is, they could hide under the leaves and do what they wanted , with out fear of a predator seeing them. Ruined a 1/4 or more of the potatoes.
I don’t know if you have moles in your spot on the earth. But I know I do.
I would cut those leaves back. And keep it open. Just my thought

I looked close at the peas and green beans this morning. 2 rows of peas about 10" apart. One row has 10 plants up, other row has about 30. Green beans planted the same way, same day. One row can hardly find a plant. Other row has maybe a dozen. Have some left over small gourd and mini pumpkins seeds from last year. Going to score them and soak them over night in warm water and plant them right down between the 2 rows of hog panels I put up for the beans and peas. Will NEVER plant anything that resembles a pea or bean again !

And that is why we have pigs. This years' potato patch is where the pig yard was last year. Moles will not dare head in that area. This years' pigs are next to the potato patch.

Plus, the border-collies keep all the moles away too.

One last detail is, moles hate sandy soil. They can't make strong enough tunnels and moles hate the taste of sand. :)

Good to hear of your success for pumpkins. I tried twice and it failed. So, I planted summer squash there instead.

Beans are going strong, the rabbit that was nibbling them got stuck in a fence in the early morning hours. A predator came by and gnawed the neck nearly decapitating the head off. The predator must of gave up. So, now my beans are on the mends.
