Power King1620

Sunday morning I went about 20 miles west of here and looked at a Power King 1620. Checked it over and made a deal to purchase it. 20 horse Kohler, hydrostat, power steering , hydraulic lift, and 60" mower deck. Got home and tried mowing the yard and alley with it. Started wondering what I was really going to do with it. Too big for my yard and takes up too much room in the trailer to haul it to any shows.
On the rear of the fenders was a sticker for the dealership that sold it. The same mower shop that I frequent quite often. So on Monday I loaded it up and took it over to them. I questioned whether they would honor an extended warranty on it. They didn't think so but they did remember selling and delivering this one to where I bought it. Knowing I had no real need for it Jimmie asked if I would be interested in selling it and was pretty sure he could sell it for me that evening. He would take it home with him and show it to a guy in his town who would want it. So at about 3:00pm I left it with him.

To be continued.....

At 5:00 pm Jimmie called and said he was stopping by on his way home and bringing me payment for the tractor. Shortly after I had left a regular customer stopped at the shop, spotted the Power King, asked about it and wanted to buy it. When Jimmie delivered it for him the guy offered up a Cub Cadet 3185 for sale. Jimmie loaded it up and brought it to me. He knew I would want it just for the tires if nothing else. Also Jimmie had rebuilt the 18 hp Briggs Vanguard twin that was in it. He estimated it had about 50 hours on it since the overhaul. The front tires are Firestone tri ribs that still have the tits on them. The rears are Carlisle Tru-Powers 23x10.50x12. They still have the tire mold flashing on them. He was pulling his roller with it so they were dirty but new! Hydrostat, power steering and hydraulic lift. No mower deck or attachments.
I bought it with the idea to strip it out for all the goodies but the wife drove it and wants it for flowerbed duties. It will be hers for now.
Jimmie paid me for the Power King, I gave him a decent commission, and then bought the Cub Cadet. I gave less than the value of the tires and still get a good engine and some hydraulics and power steering for a project tractor. Washed it today and started swapping tires. The wife was wanting a hydrostat/step-thru design for her yard work, This will do until I find something else.

I had one of those similar plastic kings, mine was badged as a Snapper and maybe a 95 or 96 model. I ended up selling it to GL grumpy from GTT, but it was nice with 31" rear tires gull hydro, multiple hydro connections. Just had a blown motor and needed too much work for me at the time.

That was a good looking PK Rick that would have been hard for me to let go. Glad it worked out good for you on the Cub or should I say for the lady. Carol loves the little LT 1050 a friend gave me a couple of years ago. She says it drives like a sports car compared to my tanks and she likes the step through also.

You didn't own the PK very long Rick! You change tractors faster than I can change my mind---LOL! Looks like the Cub may be a bit more suited for your needs, or should I say Edy's needs!

The GT5000 is too big for some areas in my yard too but it still does a decent job on most of it.

That Cub Cadet is destined to be a donor for a homemade/Frankenstein tractor .
But for now it will be Edy's tug.
